The problem with looking for niche marketing examples is that whilst there are literally millions of potential niches, only a small percentage are actually profitable. And many of those are so small that they can only service a small number of businesses.

In short, for the people who have actually found profitable niches, telling you about them would be nothing short of suicidal for their business. They would have to charge you so much to make it worth their while telling you about it, you’d never be able to afford it. So it’s a vicious circle!

What we can do though is to look at a previously-published example just so you get to understand what a niche market is and why they are so powerful.

A major product launch recently gave details of how two marketers were making over $5000 a month selling bird cages on the Internet. Notice I said bird cages. Some would think of pet care as a niche. Others might cut that down even further to pet birds – or maybe specifically a parrot or parakeet. But very few people would drill down as far as actual bird cages.

And that’s why they did so well. It turns out that people looking to buy a bird cage are willing to spend a hefty amount of money, but there are very few companies competing in the niche. These guys were therefore able to virtually own the niche and using just free search engine traffic to earn a considerable, consistent income from their niche marketing efforts.
